Fashion First FAQ
On the Commercial/Proforma Invoice, do I need to indicate the Country of Origin?
Yes. The Country of Origin must be indicated clearly on the Invoice.
How should I declare a garment that has the word "SAMPLE" marking on the outside of the items on the Commercial/Proforma Invoice and DHL Airwaybill (AWB)?
You should declare it as "Mutilated sample not for resale HS 9811.00.60" on the Invoice and Airwaybill.
Can I use correction ink or liquid paper to stamp items that are dark in colour?
No. Correction ink and liquid paper are not acceptable because both are washable. You must stamp "SAMPLE" in a contrasting ink color, such as white or a light color, using indelible inks (non-washable/non-erasable).
Can I use a sticker as a Country of Origin or Fabric Content Label?
No. You must permanently sew these labels onto the item.
Do I need a Proforma Invoice for a gift item?
Yes, it is critical for customs to know the content of every shipment.
